Update 4:15 p.m. - Message from Principal Julie Wiley

I want to take a moment to reach out to you this afternoon regarding today’s incident at Hill Country College Preparatory High School. At 8:34 a.m. law enforcement was called after a student shot a teacher. That teacher was taken to the hospital for medical care. The student died at the scene. This remains an active investigation.

Our hearts are with everyone impacted, especially that teacher, their family, and our school community. We know this has been a difficult day. I want to personally thank our local law enforcement officers, amazing staff, and district administrators for their swift response, professionalism and care of our students. We are deeply grateful to the staff at Bulverde Middle School for hosting our students and staff until they could be reconnected with their families.

To allow time for our families and staff to process and begin healing, we will not have school tomorrow, Tuesday, March 31. Counselors will be available to students and families from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at Mamman Family Public Library, 131 Bulverde Crossing, Bulverde.

If your child has a vehicle or any personal belongings on campus, they will remain secured until further notice. Additional guidance will be provided as to when you will be able to retrieve those items. Please know we are here to support our students, staff and families during this time. Thank you for your continued support.

Update 10:27 a.m. - Local law enforcement officials have secured the building. Students and staff have been transported by bus to Bulverde Middle School, 29975 Wiley Rd., Bulverde, where parents may pick up their students.

Parents may park in the main parking lot and follow reunification procedures.
What you need for Reunification: In order to pick up a student, parents and guardians MUST have a photo ID and be listed in Skyward as eligible to pick up the student. You will only be able to pick up your student.

Please note, reunification may take some time. Please be patient with our staff and law enforcement. No one will be allowed back to the HCCPHS campus for belongings or parked cars until law enforcement officials release the campus.

Update 9:38 a.m. - Local law enforcement officials are on campus and the building is secure. All students and staff will be taken by bus to Bulverde Middle School where parents may pick them up.

Update 9:20 a.m. - Lockdown is still active at Hill Country College Prep High School. Local law enforcement officials are on campus and say the building is secure. Students and staff are in a secure area and the threat has been contained. More information will continue to be provided.

At 8:34 a.m. today, the Lockdown alarm was activated at Hill Country College Preparatory High School. Students and staff are following the necessary procedures. Local law enforcement is responding.
