Basal body temperature (BBT) is the lowest temperature our body reaches in a resting state. For fertility awareness and cycle charting purposes, it is usually measured upon waking before you get out of bed.
What does BBT have to do with fertility awareness?
After you ovulate, your body produces progesterone--a hormone that essentially prepares your body for pregnancy. Progesterone causes a slight rise in BBT that can be seen if you are consistently recording your temperature. This factor along with other biomarkers can confirm ovulation and tell you the length of different phases of your cycle, which are related to your overall health.
Some important things to know about measuring BBT:
đĄIt must be done around the same time every morning (everyone is different, but you have a window of about an hour that you should be taking your temp in)
đĄYou need to get about 3 hours of solid sleep before taking BBT as sleep disturbances can mess with your temp
đĄSpecial thermometers that measure to the 100th should be used (example: 97.43) Luckily, thermometers like these are available for around $10!

Lately when people ask me what I'm doing with my life and I tell them I'm becoming a doula they say, "A what??!" So let me explain!
A doula is a birth coach that provides emotional, informational, and physical support. They help mamas advocate for themselves and facilitate communication between parents and their care providers to ensure a satisfying birth experience. They support families before, during, and after birth.
Benefits of hiring a doula:
-less likely to need pitocin
-less likely to have a cesarean
-less likely to use any pain medication
-shorter labor
-higher apgar scores
-mothers are more likely to rate their childbirth experience positively
..and so much more!

Welcome to my page! For those that donât know, I am currently taking a doula training program and Iâm loving it so far! Doula Revolution is my business-in-progress. Follow along as I figure out social media, build my website, and of course take on clients! Honestly I donât know how I thought of âDoula Revolutionââit just came to me lol but itâs perfect. Revolutions are all about change, and I want to help bring change to the way birth is viewed/managed in the U.S. As for the upside down triangle in the logo: triangles=change in math terms (here I am using things I learned in middle school that I never thought Iâd needđ¤Ł) and an upside down triangle is also representative of a uterus/womenâs reproductive organsâwhich is kind of a big part of birth𤪠Stay tuned to see where I take this business, and if you have any pregnant friends you think would benefit from some extra love and support, send them my wayđ
