LCKC member Yusei and his family are heading back to Japan, but not before we had a final training and pizza party for him! LCKC members had a weekend of training, fun, and competition at the 2026 Rose City Taikai in Portland, OR. Great job, everyone!

This weekend Lilac City Kendo Club participated in the 34th Bellevue Junior Kendo Championships. We also had a chance to practice with . We brought home good memories, new friendships, more experience, and a few trophies. Good job on the floor and congrats to everyone!

Last week we celebrated our dojo warming with special guest Shigemitsu Kamata Sensei (Kyoshi 7-Dan). Over fifty participants from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, and British Columbia joined us to celebrate with good practice and good fellowship. Thank you all for making it such a successful event!

Lilac City Kendo Club is excited to be hosting a seminar this weekend to celebrate a successful dojo opening and first year within the PNKF. We welcome Shigemitsu “Mitch” Kamata, Kyoshi 7-Dan as our honored guest and instructor. As a former member and coach of Team Canada, and a Canadian National Champion, he brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and insight that we are excited to share in.

We expect a large turnout from multiple states, countries, and cities to share in our excitement and learning this weekend.

LCKC hopes to bring many more events like this to the greater Spokane Area, and we hope that our guests enjoy their time with us, and will join us again in the future!
