The Field, it’s a Universe.
We come from a place once called ordinary.
Brick and bell. Lockers breathing out metal heat.
Morning announcements and the soft courage
of showing up.
Southfield High School—
not merely a building,
but a knowing.
We learned value early.
In classrooms and cafeterias.
On bleachers, at dances,
in quiet talks after the game.
We learned that we were not accidental—
that our presence was deliberate,
earned, and ongoing.
This is the story of a people
who understood their worth
before the world had language for it.
A people shaping a changing suburbia
with intention, style, discipline, joy.
A people who carried home with them
wherever they went.
The Field is not a memory.
It is motion.
It is reunion and recognition.
It is the gathering of those
who still feel the bell ring somewhere inside them.
Locally and across oceans,
we create rooms where we recognize one another.
We build moments that say:
I see you. I remember. I belong.
This is our platform.
Our witness.
Our universe.
And we are still writing.

The Origin of Blue Jay WEEKEND

Blue Jay WEEKEND was born in 2011, at a moment when many of us realized something important:
our traditional 20-year class reunions were getting smaller, and the energy that once defined our gatherings was fading.

At the same time, a faithful group of alumni from the early ’80s had already kept the spirit alive with an annual Sunday picnic—an informal tradition that refused to let the Blue Jay bond disappear. Their consistency planted a seed.

Recognizing this momentum, a decision was made:
Why not expand this into something larger—something that honored every class, every decade, and the entire Blue Jay culture?

And just like that, the idea took shape.

What began as a single picnic evolved into a full three-day celebration—a unified weekend where all classes could return home, celebrate their milestone anniversaries together, and reconnect with the legacy that shaped us.

Blue Jay WEEKEND became more than a reunion.
It became a tradition of family, memory, music, laughter, and pride—a living reminder that no matter how far we travel or how many years pass, we all carry a piece of the Blue Jay spirit with us.
