❤️ A life was saved because someone recognized an emergency and another person knew CPR.
You never know when you’ll be the one who can make a difference. Learn CPR. Save a life.
A day at a community pool in Minnesota nearly turned tragic when a young boy suddenly sank beneath the water and became unresponsive.
While other children continued swimming nearby, one teenager noticed something wasn't right.
The 13-year-old dove underwater and found the boy sitting motionless on the bottom of the pool. Without hesitation, he swam down, lifted him up, and carried him toward the shallow end.
Surveillance video captured the dramatic rescue.
Waiting nearby was a woman who immediately realized the seriousness of the situation. Despite dealing with significant health challenges of her own, she rushed from her wheelchair to help pull the child from the water.
The boy was unresponsive and showing no signs of awareness.
Drawing on CPR training she had learned years earlier, she began chest compressions and rescue breaths while others watched anxiously. Moments later, the child's color began returning, and he started expelling water and breathing again.
What began as a frightening emergency became a story of teamwork, courage, and quick action.
The teenager's awareness in the water and the woman's determination on the pool deck created a chain of events that helped save a young life.
The rescued boy later said that without the two strangers who stepped in to help, he might not have survived.
