Last week, the kids of the We Care Summer Program had an awesome fishing trip with expert angler Larry Freeman!

Not only did they learn the ins and outs of fishing, but Larry also shared his personal journey in the fishing world — inspiring our youth with stories of passion, patience, and perseverance.

And yes… they even caught a few fish along the way!

Special thanks to Brian Sykes for providing us with a safe and peaceful spot to enjoy the beauty of nature!

Shoutout to our We Care Summer Camp crew for showing up with big appetites and even bigger manners during today’s lunch at Bojangles'! (June 13, 2025)

Thank you to the amazing staff at Bojangles for your kindness, patience, and service during our lunch visit.

Our kids not only enjoyed their meal but they also made us proud with their respectful behavior and it didn’t go unnoticed.

They received so many compliments from staff and other guests about how well-mannered and polite they were!!

A huge thank you to Mecklenburg County Emergency Services for giving our We Care Summer Program kids such a memorable and meaningful visit! (June 13, 2025)

From exploring the ambulance to learning how EMS responds in emergencies, they were wide-eyed and full of curiosity.

We just might have some future EMTs, paramedics, or dispatchers on our hands after today!

A huge thank you to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, Sgt. Clayton, K-9 Morris, and Deputy Pulliam for visiting We Care’s Summer Program! (June 12, 2025)

Our students loved learning about the role of a Sheriff’s Deputy, the incredible work of K-9 units, and seeing a live demo from K-9 Morris in action!

We truly appreciate your time, dedication, and the lasting impression you left on our youth — you may have inspired some future law enforcement officers!

On June 12, 2025, the youth of We Care’s Summer Program had an amazing day South Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

They had a chance to tour the firehouse, explore fire trucks, meet real firefighters, and learn all about fire safety.

We are beyond thankful for the warm welcome and the time you all took to educate and encourage our young ones. The hands-on experience left a lasting impression and prayfully a few future firefighters in the making!
