A teacher of future teachers said something to me recently that hit hard:

“We’re coming to TimberNook… because we’re desperate.”

Not “curious.”
Not “interested.”
Desperate.

She went on to say:

“The behavior management techniques we’ve relied on for years just aren’t working anymore. Kids are different. Something has to change. And I think TimberNook is part of the solution.”

Let that sink in for a second.

When the people training the next generation of educators are sounding the alarm, we should probably stop pretending everything is fine.

Children are overstimulated yet under-experienced. Connected to screens but disconnected from their senses. Expected to sit still, self-regulate, perform, focus -- while rarely getting the environments that actually support those things.

We don’t have a “behavior problem.”
We have a childhood problem.

And people are finally starting to say it out loud.

Kids need real play, real sensory experiences, real connection... More than ever before. ❤️

Last week South Haven Play School students rode the STAR Bus for a visit to the South Haven Memorial Library. where we delivered donations, enjoyed stories, and made beautiful, seasonal art with Mrs. Sarah from the South Haven Center for the Arts. Thank you to our local organizations for providing these free resources. We are so fortunate to live and learn in this community!
