Artificial intelligence is changing higher education, and academic libraries are helping their campuses adapt.

Across South Carolina, PASCAL member libraries are offering AI literacy programs, partnering with faculty, promoting responsible AI use, and helping students build the critical thinking skills they need to work confidently in an AI-powered world.

Our latest article highlights how three member libraries are meeting this moment and helping their campus communities navigate the opportunities and challenges of AI.

Congratulations to Lauren Lundy, winner of our mascot poetry contest! 🎉

Here she is posing with her muse, Sir Duke the Squirrel, the beloved mascot of Duke Library at Furman University. We've heard Sir Duke is soon to be officially knighted with a proper knight's helmet, and we can only hope Lauren's award-winning poem is recited during the ceremony:

"Squeak, squeakin' squeak! Libraries R peak!"

A worthy tribute to a worthy squirrel. 🐿️

Congratulations to Lauren - and Sir Duke! We can't wait to see who takes home the title at the next mascot gathering.

After their late-night mascot sleepover, our special guests were ready for their big moment at the PASCAL Member Conference!

The mascots were recognized during the opening session with a special thank-you slide and even gathered for a conference storytime during the morning break, where Maggie read How to Catch a Bookworm by Alice Walstead.

Between sessions, the mascots could be spotted exploring the Pastides Alumni Center, meeting attendees, and taking in all the excitement of the conference. They were certainly enthusiastic participants—and excellent listeners.

Did you spot any of our mascot friends during the conference?
