FFW5K by 22 2 None 22 2 None Fighting the Fight Within (FFW) is an annual event to raise awareness about veteran suicide and the struggles our service men and women face.

Save the date: August 8, 2026 Fighting the Fight Within (FFW) is an event we bring to the community to not only honor and remember those that have lost their battle within, but to take up a torch in their memory to continue raising awareness about veteran suicide and the struggles our service men and women face. On average, 22 veterans take their own lives every day – that adds up to over 8,000 pe

r year. Raising awareness in the community leads to action. That action can better the lives of our veterans and reduce the stressors that can sometimes be too much to bear. Together we can be beacons of light for those struggling with suicidal thoughts, showing them the path towards healing and a brighter future. Join us for FFW to raise awareness, help fight the fight within and support our veteran heroes. Funds raised will help support our outreach center: Belay My Last Barracks, transitional housing project, the Staff Sergeant Drew Kostic Veterans’ Scholarship at Northwestern Michigan College, and allow us to continue to offer free programs, resources, and support to our local area veterans.

There is still time to register! If you plan to come Saturday, please register. If you arrive and have not registered you will be asked to scan a QR code and register online and pay with credit card, so - if you know you are coming just go now and register!

The Fighting the Fight Within 5K (FFW) is on Saturday August 8, 2026. It includes the following events: 5K Timed Run and 1-Mile Tribute Walk.

Information for those planning to join us on Saturday!

Check-in is from 7:00-8:15 am
Opening will be at 8:30 am
The race will begin shortly after the opening
Please plan to stay for Closing Ceremony & Awards which will follow the race (@ 10:30)
There will be water stations on course as well as water & sport drinks available on site.
Parking is free.
Service dogs only!

Directions: Using Google Maps (44.285933439885824, -85.41700173260041), should bring you directly to the park entrance which is off Boon Rd. and 41 Rd., there will be volunteers helping direct you to parking. The address is 3740 S. 41 Rd., Cadillac.
