Congratulations to South Bend CTE Graphic Design students Tyson Fuller and Klaus Carmona!
The Indiana Department of Education has selected their student-created Diploma Readiness Seal designs for use across the state as part of Indiana’s new diploma system.
Working in Mr. Murray’s Graphic Design program, Tyson and Klaus created designs representing the Enrollment, Employment, Enlistment, and Service pathways. Their work will now appear on diplomas for future Indiana graduates.
What an incredible accomplishment and a great example of the talent and creativity of our CTE students. Congratulations to Tyson, Klaus, and Mr. Murray on this statewide recognition!

One last visit before graduation ❤️
Our Human & Social Services CTE students stopped by Monroe Elementary to spend time with the second graders they’ve mentored and tutored throughout the year through their Work-Based Learning experience. The relationships they built made a lasting impact on both the elementary students and our future professionals.

Huge congratulations to our Building Trades student Chris Burks, who is officially heading to the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC) in Atlanta next week!
Chris earned his spot on the national stage after a jaw-dropping performance at the state level in Indianapolis on April 10th and 11th. Competing in the Related Technical Math division, Chris was the only student in the room who did not use a calculator. Relying completely on pure skill, a pen, and a piece of paper, he out-calculated the competition to bring home 1st place in the state!
Now, he is taking that mathematical precision to Atlanta to represent his state against the best minds in the country.
SkillsUSA is America’s premier workforce development organization, preparing students in Career and Technical Education (CTE) to become the next generation of skilled leaders. Elite winners from this national level can even advance to the international WorldSkills stage!
Let's wish Chris the absolute best of luck as he takes on the nationals! Bring it home, Chris!
Our Entrepreneurship CTE students recently completed their Leadership Impact Project by serving the Christ Child Society. Students collected and delivered basic needs items for foster families, packaging everything into gift bags for those in need.
The project helped students build leadership, confidence, professional skills, and stronger friendships while making a positive impact in the community. We’re proud of their hard work and service!

We’re proud to see SBCSC CTE students and staff recognized in the South Bend Tribune!
The Tribune published a feature story highlighting student-athletes in the South Bend Community School Corporation Medical & Allied Health Magnet program (recently renamed Medical & Dental Academy) who are preparing for careers in healthcare while balancing academics and athletics.
The article featured:
• Brenden Reed (Washington High School)
• Samara Rouser (Adams High School)
• Evie Gehring (Riley High School)
• Instructor Will Jeffers
The story showcased students earning healthcare certifications, participating in clinical experiences, and exploring careers in nursing, sports medicine, trauma care, and more — all while still in high school.
The article also highlighted the growth of program and the real-world opportunities available to students through Career & Technical Education.
As CNA instructor Will Jeffers shared in the article:: “We’re offering things to kids around the area that they’ve never had before.”
