We were thrilled to welcome Notre Dame Football running back Kedren Young to Muessel to read to Mrs. Gabriel’s first grade class, where he spent time reading with our students and sharing the joy of literacy. Moments like these bring stories to life and show our students just how powerful reading can be!

This experience was made possible through an incredible partnership with Champions for Literacy and the Lids Foundation, who are dedicated to inspiring young readers through the power of sports.

Even more exciting—thanks to the generosity of the Lids Foundation and Champions for Literacy, our school received a $5,000 donation to expand our library with more books for our students! 📖

The Lids Foundation believes that investing in children’s literacy is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen both individual futures and entire communities. When children learn to read confidently, they unlock opportunities for success in school and beyond—and we couldn’t agree more.

Through their continued partnership with Champions for Literacy, students not only gain access to more books, but also meaningful experiences with role models who make reading engaging, exciting, and accessible.
