SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL BAND TAKES GOLD!!!🏆🏆🏆

On Friday, June 7th, our band performed for adjudicators, clinicians, and a packed audience at the Great East Music Festival in Huntington, MA, earning a GOLD rating from the judges. The students BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN 🎺🎷🥁. We celebrated the performance with a fantastic day at Six Flags New England 🎢🎡. It was a thrilling finale to a symphony of a year. 🥳

Congratulations to the students for a great year. These students spent countless hours outside of school developing and applying their skills to bring joy to others. Much like an echo reflects back to us what we put out into the world, the joy and dedication the students communicated through their music was reflected back to us yesterday through a sense of accomplishment and a well-earned day of celebration. I'm incredibly proud to be the band director of this small and mighty group of musicians. Every day we have rehearsal, I look forward to working with them. They show up with positive attitudes, they never quit, and they consistently rise to the occasion. Bravo!

Congratulations, graduates! 🎓The band, orchestra, and chorus performed at the Graduation Ceremony this Monday. It was an incredible celebration filled with joy. Lots of Pomp and Circumstance, too! 🥁🎵

This year has flown by! The SHS band celebrated the senior class's accomplishments with performances during Class Day today alongside the SHS Chorus and Orchestra. Congratulations to the entire senior class (especially our 2 senior percussionists in the band 😁🥁🪘). Only 3 days until Graduation... See you there!

The SHS Band honored our nation's heroes at this year's Memorial Day Parade in Somerville. Thank you to all the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸🥁🎺

On Cinco de Mayo, the Somerville High School Band performed at the local VNA Senior Living Community. We had a fantastic experience creating connections between the generations in Somerville and serving our community. Here are some pictures from our performance!

On April 27th, the Somerville High School Band performed at the 2nd annual Somerville Civic Day, showcasing local government, services, and programs. We are proud to be apart of an exciting new tradition in Somerville!

We also kicked off our Chocolate fundraiser 🍫💲! If you'd like to purchase chocolate to support our trip to Great East Music Festival at Six Flags next year, contact [email protected]. Individual chocolate bars are $2 a bar and a box of 30 is $60.

Some of our band members performed at the Somerville Holiday Tree Lighting and sounded great! Happy Holidays from the Band.🎅☃️

The Somerville HS Band has been on the move this year. We had an exciting summer band camp in August and just recently completely our fall pep band circuit, playing at three home football games! You are invited to our next performance at the SHS Winter Concert on Dec. 14th at 6:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Alongside many members of the community, the SHS Band had the privilege and opportunity to honor the lives of America's servicemen and servicewomen who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation at the 2023 Somerville Memorial Day Parade. God Bless America 🇺🇸
