Always such a pleasure speaking with expectant families! Tonight’s topic: newborn sleep. We talked about things parents may hear vs the reality of what to expect, the biology of sleep, gear that’s helpful to have on hand, swaddling techniques, and so much more. Hoping every family feels a bit more educated and prepared as their due date approaches!

We have two families signed up for our infant massage series starting today at the Village Project at 3pm - come and join us! Or, sign up for tomorrow's group in the yoga room at the Mt. Si Wellness Collective from 2-4pm. I also offer private, in-home sessions!

It’s such a great feeling to quickly help alleviate a postpartum parent’s concern!
Tonight’s problem: their Spectra pump had no suction during the day. Parent showed me how they assembled the fl**ges and valves - all looked good. Until…she went to turn the pump on with both tubes attached to the ports but only one fl**ge. I asked if she had been trying to pump on a single side - the answer was yes. I then explained that the second vacuum port needed to be sealed with the cap. With the tube attached, the system was open, meaning it had no vacuum. “Problem” solved!
Since transitioning solely to newborn care and postpartum support in 2021, I have had the pleasure of helping 37 families with their 38 newborns (including a set of twins) and have earned several certifications.
Knowledge is gained both from education and experience, so it’s important to always be open to learning more - whether from a family you care for, a peer in the industry, or a class you take.

Learn to Massage your baby at the Village Project North Bend and Mount Si Wellness Collective starting in January 2026! This wonderful 4 week program is a great way to learn how to calm and bond with your baby, learn their communication cues, help with their digestion and ease gas discomfort.
