Good Afternoon, 9th Grade Parents and Students,

We look forward to welcoming our incoming freshmen class and enjoying a fun morning together!

On August 20th, our LINK Crew Orientation will begin at 8:15 a.m. and conclude at 12:00 p.m. Bus transportation will be provided.

There are several benefits to attending LINK Orientation. Students will have the opportunity to:

Meet the administrative team and LINK teacher advisors
Meet LINK Crew student leaders
Tour the building in small groups
Participate in fun icebreaker activities designed to ease the nervousness that can come with transitioning to a new school
Chromebook Information:
Students who are unable to attend orientation on August 20th to pick up their Chromebook may do so during Back-to-School Night from 4:30–6:30 p.m.

Once students receive their Chromebook, please be sure to power on the device, log in, and complete any required updates before August 25th.

Please remember that a fully charged Chromebook is expected each and every school day.

We are excited to welcome our freshmen and help make their transition to high school a positive and memorable experience!

We look forward to seeing you on August 20th!


*Please do not bring backpacks on August 20th to the LINK crew orientation. All materials will be provided.

Congratulations to Aiden Hoover and Luke Gentzel!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate these two outstanding students! Aiden and Luke recently spent two weeks at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, participating in the Appalachian STEM Academy.
They were the only two students from Maryland selected to attend this amazing program! Aiden completed his 3rd year in the program, while Luke completed his 2nd year.

During their time at Oak Ridge, they conducted extensive research in engineering and had the incredible opportunity to work alongside scientists and researchers from the laboratory.

What an amazing experience and accomplishment! We are so proud of Aiden and Luke for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to STEM—and for representing Smithsburg!
