I have left Facebook for the most part but decided to check in this afternoon looking for posts specifically related to the disaster in North Carolina. I am going to have a benefit auction this coming Tuesday where the first $1000 of proceeds will be matched with my own money (up to a total of $2000) donated to the North Carolina Relief Fund set up by the Governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper. My heart is crushed. My spirit is crushed. This beautiful state has - at least temporarily - been destroyed. This takes nothing from the remainder of the states with destruction and death from this storm, but North Carolina is my chosen home, and my home needs help.

Surprise in the mail today. :)

Roughly a year ago I stopped posting in most of the coin groups on Facebook. I will now stop posting in the remainder of them and will be removing myself from all of them. The reason?? There are FAR too many people in these groups who do not know what they are doing trying to act like they are educated in the subject giving false information, others who know nothing about the subject and argue against anyone who gives them sound information with which they do not agree, and yet again others who will argue against any educational comment that does honestly educate and give good information. It's basically a waste of time. A complete waste of effort to have to FIGHT to educate anyone.

Facebook in itself is becoming overrun with inconsiderate and intolerant people who only creep and crawl around in this site to incite foul behavior and cause fights, mostly over religious or political issues, those things that proper education would teach that you do not talk about amongst people you do not know and may not want your slanted opinions. Unfortunately the coin groups have become pretty much the same. Intolerant, intolerable, and largely run by people who have control issues and have to be the one in charge so they can fight against real education.

I feel for the people of the world who come to Facebook seeking a REAL education in numismatics. Sadly, you will not find it on this site. I have tried and tried to be the spokesperson for a good cause and to help people with the fun of collecting, but this website has increasingly become NOT a fun place to hang out.

After some consideration I have decided to pull back even more from public exposure on Facebook and begin removing myself from all groups and public venues. Those who know my email address or phone number are still welcome to use them. Facebook has simply become too much of a waste of time for me.
