Charlie Kirk’s life reminded us that courage matters, truth matters, and our voices matter.

Let’s keep raising our children to stand firm in truth, walk boldly in faith, and inspire others to do the same.

Homeschool co-operatives (co-ops) are a fabulous way for Alternative Instruction families to share resources and teaching duties. Homeschool co-ops may range from 2-3 families meeting up in each other's homes (or a church or a library) all the way to large groups with 40+ families (100+ children) that are run by a board of directors.

HSD is here to help all home educators network with each other. Check out the Co-Op Directory on the website to find a co-op near you - and please make sure your co-op is listed as well!

Do you know of any great deals on curriculum that your homeschool co-op is using (or has used in the past)? Please share in the comments. Here is one to get the list started:

If you are looking for a different style of test, consider the Classic Learning Test (CLT). https://www.cltexam.com/homeschool/

This test can be used as a college entrance exam at some colleges as well: https://www.cltexam.com/colleges/

CLT's assessments for 3rd-12th graders provide a meaningful and comprehensive measure of students' aptitude and achievement.

As you plan out your school year, don't forget that long-term planning that includes testing for college (if that is a goal for your student).

There are several tests you can consider: ACT, SAT, CLT. (and maybe others - check with the post-secondary school of your choice to confirm)

If you are considering post-secondary education for your student, you may want to look into the PSAT test.

"The PSAT is often taken as a practice for the SAT or ACT, but it also allows eligible juniors to enter into the National Merit Scholarship Program. Students may take the PSAT as freshman or sophomores, but only junior-year PSAT scores will count toward the National Merit Scholarship Program."

Legislative Update for Homeschool Families!

The Home School Graduation Recognition Act, H.R. 6392, has passed the U.S. House and the Senate HELP Committee, and its companion bill S. 3747 is awaiting a full Senate vote. These bills would ensure homeschool graduates are fully recognized under federal law, helping prevent issues some families have faced with certain colleges and trade schools.

The biggest hurdle now is gaining enough support in the Senate. We’re encouraging families to help reach all 100 senators before they return in September.
