20 years. When he retires in January, he will have served 1 month shy of 1/2 of his life. Reliable, steady, trustworthy, best friend, partner, soul mate, father, advice giver, truth teller, calm in the storm and sometimes the storm itself. I love you !

I believe survivors deserve to see their experiences reflected honestly in literature. For too long, stories of abuse have been sanitized, minimized, or sensationalized. None of these approaches serve survivors well.
My responsibility is to tell the truth in a way that honors the pain while pointing toward hope. I’ve tried to model what it looks like to speak difficult truths with love—for myself, my family, and anyone who needs to hear that their story matters
too.
I also recognize that my story represents one experience among many. Child abuse crosses all demographics, and healing looks different for everyone. What worked for me may not work for others, and that’s okay. The goal isn’t to prescribe
a path but to show that paths exist.
This story exists because keeping secrets nearly destroyed my family. It exists because truth—however difficult—has the power to set us free.
Most importantly, it exists because every survivor deserves to know they are not alone.
You matter. Your story matters. Your healing matters.

Memorization Tips

Memorizing lines quickly can be a challenge, but using the right techniques makes it easier. Start by breaking the script into smaller chunks and reading it out loud multiple times. Use visualization—picture the scene as a movie in your mind while speaking the lines. Writing your lines down by hand can also reinforce memory. If possible, practice with a scene partner or use voice recording apps to play back the other character’s lines. Another effective trick is the “first letter method,” where you write down the first letter of each word in a line and use it as a prompt. Most importantly, don’t just memorize—understand the intention behind the words, and they’ll stick with you more naturally.
