🎓 Day 3 of our Career Exploration Excursions took us to Del Mar College's Windward Campus!

The Del Mar College Windward Campus, located at 4101 Old Brownsville Road in Corpus Christi, offers a wide variety of hands-on technical, industrial, and health science programs. The campus serves as a hub for specialized career degrees, professional certifications, and even houses the college's first bachelor's degree program.

Our students had the opportunity to explore several exciting career pathways, learn about educational opportunities available after high school, and experience firsthand the skills and training needed for a variety of high-demand careers.

🩺 Day 3 of Career Exploration – Health Science Day! 🩺

Yesterday, Mrs. Lott, our Del Mar Health Science teacher, along with three of her current senior students, introduced our students to the Health Science pathway.

Students learned about the heart, its functions, and the different parts that keep it working. They also discussed the importance of proper handwashing—not only in everyday life, but especially in the healthcare field, where it can literally mean the difference between life and death.

To demonstrate the correct handwashing technique, students participated in a fun and interactive activity using shaving cream and gloves to show the importance of thoroughly cleaning every area of their hands.

The morning concluded with an introduction to the basics of CPR. Students had the opportunity to practice on manikins and learn a skill that could one day help save a life.

🎓 P-TECH Summer Bridge – Day 2 Afternoon Experience 🎓

Yesterday afternoon, our P-TECH Summer Bridge students had the opportunity to visit the Heritage Campus of Del Mar College and learn about the many resources available to them as future college students. For many of our students, this was their first time stepping onto a college campus, making the experience both exciting and inspiring.

As an important academic partner of Sinton ISD, Del Mar College provides incredible opportunities for our students. Several of these future Pirates will soon begin their dual credit journey, earning college credits while still in high school and gaining a head start on their educational and career goals.

Students learned about academic support services, campus resources, and the many pathways available to help them succeed in college and beyond. Experiences like these help students envision their future and build confidence as they prepare for the next chapter of their academic careers.

We are proud to offer these opportunities free of charge to our students because Sinton ISD believes in the success of ALL students. Together with our partners, we are creating pathways that open doors and expand possibilities for every learner.

🎓 P-TECH Summer Bridge – Day 2 🎓

Today’s focus was on what it takes to be successful as a high school student! As students prepare to transition to a larger campus with more class periods, higher expectations, and many more choices, they spent the day building skills that will help them thrive throughout high school and beyond.

Students began creating resumes that they can continue to update throughout their high school journey. They also learned how to use Canva and several Google applications that will support their academic success. Each student created a presentation slide about themselves, allowing them to share their interests, goals, and personalities.

To wrap up the morning, students participated in a high school scavenger hunt where they explored the campus, located important areas, and met key staff members who will help support them during their high school experience.

It was a morning full of learning, exploring, and preparing for a successful future! We are proud of the enthusiasm and engagement our future P-TECH students are showing.

🎉 Exciting News for Sinton ISD! 🎉

Today, Sinton ISD was honored to receive a JOBS and EDUCATION for Texans (JET) Grant in the amount of $328,296 during a special presentation at Del Mar College's Oso Creek Campus.

A special thank you to Commissioner Joe Esparza of the Texas Workforce Commission for presenting the award. This grant will provide funding for new equipment to support the Instrumentation Program at Sinton High School, helping students gain hands-on experience and develop the technical skills needed for high-demand careers.

This investment in career and technical education will create valuable opportunities for our students and strengthen the future workforce of our community.
