The Charity arm of the Sri Lanka Association of Washington DC, SLAGW, is honored to share the success of a meaningful outreach initiative carried out with compassion and dedication.

We organized a visionโ€‘care clinic at the Welikada Prison for female inmates and children, many of whom rely on sewing classes, Dhamma school, Sunday school, and other educational programsโ€” activities that become nearly impossible when vision is impaired. As part of this effort, we are grateful for the opportunity to donate 150 reading glasses to the female ward, offering renewed comfort, independence, and the ability to continue learning and creating.

Clear vision is something many of us take for granted, yet it plays a vital role in rehabilitation, education, and daily life.

With the support of two dedicated optometrists, we were able to examine inmates for eyeglass prescriptions with genuine compassion and unwavering commitment allowing our team to serve 150โ€“200 individuals effectively.

Every act of kindness has the power to improve lives, and we remain committed to supporting underserved communities through initiatives that promote health, dignity, and hope.

Together, small contributions can create lasting change in communities near and far. Your partnerships, membership, and contributions allow us to complete impactful efforts like this.

The Charity arm of the Sri Lanka Association of Washington DC, SLAGW, is honored to have successfully donated two waterโ€‘purifying filters and a smart board to M/R Masmulla Primary School in Kamburupitiya, Matara.

During our assessment, we learned that this primary school, which serves 114 students, relies on a well that is contaminated and unsafe for drinking.

Access to clean drinking water creates a healthier learning environment, while modern technology opens new opportunities for interactive and engaging education. We hope these contributions support both the wellโ€‘being and academic growth of the students for years to come.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Prathiba Media Network for connecting us and helping make this meaningful initiative possible.

Together, small acts of generosity can make a lasting difference in our communities, near and far.
