The starting teaching salary in Sierra Vists is 35k a year. What parent wants their child to graduate from college and having a starting salary of 35k a year? It seems so much of the public is not aware of this number. My neighbor said, as we were talking about salaries, well 35.00 an hour isn’t too bad! I said, no, it’s 35k a year. The shock on her face. I can’t even tell you. Please tell everyone you know and vote differently. Our kids deserve more.

The bill also misses the mark when it comes to teachers. Arizona’s teacher shortage has worsened because of the pandemic. Instead of cutting $124M in pay and incentives for teacher retention, we should be doubling down to invest in strategies that support our educators and encourage them to stay in the profession.
