So... this isn't what chemistry is about....but, yes, I've done it. Chemistry for your child is all about learning to think for yourself and solve problems. We don't just memorize and regurgitate. We memorize, yeah, then do something with our new knowledge. We are always solving puzzles.
Are you learning electron configuration yet? It's amazing that we know where electrons are (or have a good possibility of being). But the more impotant thing is knowing where they've been and where they are going. Where has your brain gone today? Did it struggle with chemistry? Chemistry was my first love b/c it was all about solving puzzles. I want you to love it too. Knowing how to think critically earned me careers with Celanese, and Northrop, and Lockheed. These careers were a blast! I played in the black labs and had morning coffee inside vertical stabilizers. Eventually my own kids entered HS and my heart had a new calling: go be a teacher, go harass your children, show kids how to think. For 13 years I've studied students in my classes and I've listened to every question. I believe in learning by discovery and will let you experience chemistry that way. You may not discover a new planet or the cure to heartache, but you will discover how smart you can be.

How is the math going in science class? Is dimensional analysis making you crazed? Just let the units guide you.
1. Draw your grid
2. Write starting units, skip 4 squares, write ending units.
(No messing with numbers yet!!)
3. Find all conversions, or equalities, to change your starting unit into the ending unit
4. Arrange your conversions on the grid so that units cancel out top& bottom
5. Your only units NOT canceled out should be your ending or answer units.
6. Now...finally...put in numbers beside their appropriate unit.
7. Multiply all numbers across the top and write it down
8. Multiply all numbers across the bottom and write it down
9. Divide top by the bottom. Write it down with your ending unit.
You ARE ALL DONE! It's just a system. It's just a way to do multi-step math where you can see it all at one time. It's just a way to feel your way thru total darkness and open the door.

Every time kids learn by discovery their feet are going WILD! They don't have to discover something new to the world, but just discover information new to them and their peers without lecture or textbook or Google or Siri.

Parents! Why your kids need to learn The Scientific Method! You, me, them, we all do it 1000x daily. It's just an organized way to think and learn for yourself. Well, if it's important why don't schools teach it? An "organized way to think" or Critical Thinking is a highly coveted skill that is hard to find in current US workforce. Take a look at what others believe....(does it look familiar, maybe that 1000x daily)

Well, if it's important why don't schools teach it? Time, cost, talent, patience, expertise. It is a struggle to teach kids HOW to think and so very much easier to just show them what to think. Learning by argument and discovery is such a slow process but, in the end, it is much more rewarding for your kids. Take a look at what other folks, important, worldly folks believe:
