Today, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., Beta Psi Chapter joins the nation in celebrating Juneteenth—a profound day of freedom, resilience, and cultural reflection.

​What is Juneteenth?

​On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and delivered General Order No. 3, officially announcing the emancipation of all enslaved African Americans in the state.

​The Historical Context: Although the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed two and a half years earlier, it wasn't until this historic day in Texas that the remaining 250,000 enslaved people finally learned they were free.

​The Legacy: Juneteenth represents the triumph of the human spirit over injustice. It is a day to honor our ancestors' strength, celebrate Black culture, and reaffirm our commitment to equality and community empowerment.

​Freedom & Sisterhood

​As an organization rooted in business, education, and the uplifting of African American women, we reflect on how far we have come—and the work that still lies ahead. We honor the spirit of freedom by continuing to foster economic growth, mentorship, and sisterhood in our communities.

Today, the Beta Psi Chapter proudly joins our sisterhood across the nation in celebrating 97 years of sisterhood, service, and excellence.

On this day in 1929, our visionary Founder, Lola Mercedes Parker, and our esteemed charter members paved the way for African American business and professional women. They recognized the power of education, entrepreneurship, and leadership—building a legacy that continues to inspire and empower generations of women to break barriers and excel in the business world.

As we celebrate nearly a century of impact, the Beta Psi Chapter remains deeply committed to upholding our core mission: promoting economic empowerment, supporting youth development, and driving meaningful change right here in our community.

To all our phenomenal Sorors—happy Founder's Day! Let’s keep striving, scaling new heights, and shining bright. Here’s to 97 years of business, elegance, and unwavering service!

What an incredible month of impact and sisterhood! As we close out the final chapter of Business Month, it is time to look back at everything we achieved together in April.

From leadership to legacy, here is how we made our mark:

30 Days of Green:

We showed up and stood out! Thank you to everyone who participated in our "30 Days of Green" campaign, showcasing our commitment to business excellence and professional unity all month long.

Social Media Workshop:

We sharpened our digital edge during our online workshop. Learning how to leverage social media for professional growth was a major highlight, and we’re ready to take those skills into the future. Special thanks to Nate Bryant for providing our guests with great tips and tricks.

Designer Bag Raffle:

A huge congratulations to our winners! We are thrilled to announce that the raffle was a massive success, raising $1,000 specifically for our scholarship fund. This allows us to continue supporting the next generation of leaders in their academic pursuits.

Thank you to every member, supporter, and friend who made this month a success. We are moving forward with purpose!
