Neuroscience Fundamentals is for you if you've ever taught something the "right" way and still watched it not stick, and wondered whether the problem was your method or something deeper. Curtis Kelly and his team spend six weeks unpacking what neuroscience actually tells us about language and learning: that the brain predicts rather than just absorbs, that it can't learn what it doesn't feel something about, and that it works best in the company of other brains. If you're the kind of teacher who wants to know why a technique works before you trust it, this is your course.

It's also genuinely flexible. Content is pre-recorded so you can work through it on your own schedule, with live sessions designed to catch every timezone, and none of them mandatory. More information at iTDi.pro (or use the QR code).

The second (and final) Neuroscience workshop from the summer series will happen on Sunday, August 30th. The first workshop was fascinating, and we're excited for this one, too -- it's all about teacher well-being. Get more information and sign up at iTDi.pro. All registered participants will also get a recording of the session and a chance to continue discussion in a private forum. Hope to see you on Sunday!

(Message from Steven Herder, Better Teaching: Leading with Clarity and Confidence)

Hello All,

Working on my 10 slides, 20-minute super mini-lecture for Zoom live session 1 (Teacher and Learner Beliefs), and I can't wait to discuss the 5 questions below.

I'm planning to learn from you all. I'm reminded of my epiphany some years ago: "Anything I can do, we can do better!"

1. What beliefs most influence your teaching?
2. Where did those beliefs come from?
3. Which beliefs have changed over your career?
4. Which beliefs do you rarely question?
5. What belief would you like to examine more closely?

After 37 years in the classroom, I can simplify good teaching into three habits that work for me:

Connect. Expect. Adapt.

What are yours? (Remember - there are no wrong answers, just a variety of results)

Every teacher wants engaged students. Trust is often where engagement begins.

Remember when you were in school. There were teachers you could trust and those whom you couldn't.

Same rules apply.
