Your child's teacher said "their grades are fine," and closed the door on an IEP.

That phrase has stopped thousands of parents from getting the right support for their child. And it is not even legally accurate.

Grades are not the legal test for an IEP.

Educational impact includes:
*Behavior
*Social-emotional functioning
*Communication
*Attendance
*Executive function
*Adaptive skills

A child who holds it together all day at school and falls apart every single evening at home is being educationally impacted, even if the report card says B+ or higher.

You do not need perfect grades to qualify. You need documented impact.

And you have the right to request a full evaluation in writing today. No permission needed.

Save this post. Share it with every parent you know who has heard those words.

The school told you to "try a 504 first." They were wrong.

A 504 Plan is NOT an IEP-lite. It is not a stepping stone. It is a completely different document under a totally different law, with a completely different level of service.

If your child needed an IEP and got a 504 instead, you may have just lost years of the right support.

Here's what they didn't tell you:
*You don't need the school's permission to request an evaluation
*You can put the request in writing TODAY
*Under IDEA, your child has the right to specialized instruction, not just accommodations

Save this. Share it with every parent you know who is navigating this process.

That child on the stairs is not being difficult.

He is exhausted. Overwhelmed. And telling you, in the only way he knows how, that something is not working.

School refusal is not a behavior problem. It is a support problem.

When the right IEP is in place, with the right accommodations, the right environment, and a parent who knows how to advocate, everything changes. That confident kid walking out the door with his backpack? That is what's possible.

But it starts with you knowing what to ask for, what to look for, and what the school is not telling you.

We created free guides for exactly this moment. Written by State-Licensed Behavior Clinicians with over a decade in schools and attending IEP meetings.
