Delta Kappa Gamma - Beta Nu Chapter

Today Beta Nu was honored to present a $1000 scholarship to Cascade High School senior Ella McGeary. Ella has participated in Teaching as a Profession and wrote an uplifting essay about children turning her fear into inspiration.
We know Ella will make us proud in the future.

We initiated 4 new members on Saturday (April 18, 2026) at Glass Hollow.
We welcome our new members:
Kaycee Martin, Meredith Gilliland, Sandy Powell, and Lindsay Wiley. Caron Burr (not present and will be initiated at a later time.)

Nancy Barnett, a member for over 50 years, shared some of the history of Beta Nu with members and presented Kathy Reed with pins she had received throughout her membership.

We enjoyed a special fellowship together and a wonderful meal.

February Program:

Beta Nu recently held their chapter meeting at the home of Shirley McGee.

Member, Mrs. Shirley McGee, held a lovely program at her home. She first provided members with a printout and discussion of “The Legend Behind the Blue Willow China Pattern.” Next, Shirley had 3 tables beautifully set with various themes, china, glass ware, flat ware, and linens. She shared family stories and memories about pieces from each table. We are thankful to Mrs. Shirley for the lovely presentation.

Delta Kappa Gamma met on November 20th for a Holiday meal at Glass Hollow Table and Tavern.

The service project for the month was collecting blankets for those in need. Our chapter partnered with Debra
Nelson and The Nelson Foundation on this project. Debra will distribute the blankets.

The devotion for the evening was delivered by Shirley McGee. Shirley’s message was to enjoy special moments with loved ones and not rush from one event to the next. She shared holiday and teaching memories and excerpts from a special book.

The next meeting will be February 2, 2026.

Reminder for Monday’s Meeting:

🌹Arty All the Time 🎨👩‍🎨 has planned a fun Paint Party for us!

🌹Please bring a favorite finger food to share with everyone.

🌹We will also be collecting books and games that are appropriate for the juvenile detention center. Here are some guidelines/tips from the center:
🔴They are not allowed to have any playing cards because of chances of gambling.
🔴Prefer things with not too many pieces.
They have completely worn out 3 Monopoly games in the last year.
🔴They were looking for a game called Heads Up that someone wanted to play but couldn't find so they either don't have it or it was worn out, too many pieces lost, etc.
🔴For books, graphic novels might be a good idea. They seem to be a high interest for kids.
