It's an honor to be able to spend a summer with Lyric Arts France as a teaching performer for five weeks! Here I am with three of our brilliant young artists who I’ve worked with at SUNY Geneseo. In addition to their French classes, coachings, lessons and multiple concerts throughout the city, we end our festival performing two weekends together in CARMEN with the Opera Bastide! They’re getting to see a different side of Professor Cornell in these rehearsals 💃🏻 🔪 🩸

🎶 🇫🇷 Hi friends! I recently accepted an exciting gig as a summer guest performer and teacher at Lyric Arts France and Opera Bastide, led by my friend and opera mentor Jonathan Eaton! If any of yinz might be interested in joining me as a student in their training program, and/or have students who might be interested, message me for more details! I’ll be singing Carmen and teaching classical and musical theater singers, as they are also doing a French adaptation of The Fantastiks! Woot! 🇫🇷 🎶

MEET THE CAST!

Riley Tate joins USP for her first unrehearsed experience this year.

Riley Tate is excited to make her NRTC debut this season. She recently received her Master's Degree in Shakespeare at Mary Baldwin University in conjunction with the American Shakespeare Center, where you could see her as Gower in Pericles, Prince of Tyre, Florinda in The Rover, and Wagner/Chorus in Dr. Faustus. Other notable roles include Mary in Jersey Boys (StageRight!), Nicola in Kinky Boots (ShenanArts), Kate in The Wild Party (CCAC South), Magenta in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Ensemble in Titanic (Split Stage Productions), Sarah in Company, Claudius in Hamlet, and Perdita in The Winter's Tale (Seton Hill).

Sharing a post adjudication marathon selfie with the lovely Connie Fee, Director of Vocal Studies at Roberts Wesleyan University, and my dear friend and former professor Tim Long who is associate professor of opera at Eastman School of Music.

Tim brought me and Connie in to judge the preliminary “Friends of Eastman Vocal Competition”. After 7 hours of being amazed by the talent, potential, and passion, we had the daunting task to pick finalists. Not easy!!

Cheers to likeminded colleagues! So grateful to know people like this. 💫
