The Somerset Program would like to acknowledge and congratulate Gemma Green for her outstanding leadership and community engagement.

Gemma recently read her first-place Black History Essay Contest submission sponsored by the Shenango Valley Urban League and shared her experiences and the impact of participating in the 2026 Legacy Cultural Project.

During the event hosted by the Journey to Beloved Community, Gemma participated in meaningful and unscripted conversations centered on cultural sensitivity, community healing, and the importance of building stronger, more inclusive communities.

Gemma's dedication to service and leadership continues this summer as she commits her time to our Municipal Project, directed by our Board Member Corwin Somerset of the Shenango Valley Urban League.

We are incredibly proud of Gemma and her continued growth as a young leader and changemaker in our community.

The Somerset Program would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Tracy Schliep and the Journey to Beloved Community organization for hosting this inspiring and impactful event and for their continued partnership and support.

The Fred Somerset Memorial Scholarship Program is proud to announce that we have officially received our CNPJ (Cadastro Nacional da Pessoa Jurídica)—Brazil's official National Registry of Legal Entities, similar to a nonprofit tax identification number. This milestone officially recognizes our organization as a registered nonprofit in Brazil and allows us to expand our mission and services throughout the country.

Through our international initiative, we provide FREE:

- English Learning Courses
- Family Counseling
- Mental and Physical Wellness Programs
- Workforce Readiness Training

Our mission is to empower individuals and strengthen communities by expanding access to education, wellness, and career opportunities across borders while creating opportunities for lasting personal and community growth.

Join us for an incredible spaghetti dinner while supporting a meaningful cause and helping make the 2026 Legacy Cultural Project possible!

Your support helps students, parents, community leaders, and law enforcement travel to Selma and Montgomery, Alabama from June 4th – June 6th to experience the history, culture, and lessons of the Civil Rights Movement through education, student leadership, and community engagement.
