I finished this large 30x40 in oil paint on stretched canvas recently. This would be the first painting I've done in this hay bale Rising Moon Series in several years. I took a step away after painting about 10 of these in smaller formats.
I was going through some of my smaller studies from back when I lived in Missouri and honestly I wanted to paint the subject again now that I've had time to reflect on it and thought maybe it would bring me back to that feeling I had on those evenings in Missouri. I missed that as much as I love Washington I do still miss the rural feeling of the Farmland out in Missouri.

Out of all the painting lessons I have filmed on clouds I would say that this hour and a half long lesson is probably the best one. My online Art School patreon page has I think around 30 different Sky lessons in the sky section. But there's nothing quite like your traditional daytime puffy clouds. just finished this "Moonrise". 18 by 24 inch oil painting on canvas..I remember this evening, I was driving home as the moon was Rising behind me with these specific clouds you see in this painting. I had never quite seen moonlit clouds like this because the sky was still somewhat light from the Twilight. I knew right away id be drawing on these clouds for inspiration for years.
