I had surgery. Pathology came back clean. Business is about to slow down while I get my body back.
That's the update.
Here's the real version.
A couple months ago I had some imaging, found some things in my abdomen, had an urgent surgery request put in and my husband was overseas...
Being a nurse who becomes the patient means you know exactly what every beep means or image may be indicating. That's not a comfort. That's a curse.
They found something that needed to come out. They took it out. It came back negative for cancer. No spin, no "everything happens for a reason." Just relief. The kind that makes you cry in a parking lot and then immediately get hungry.
Why am I telling my coaching community about my own medical chart? Because I built this whole business on telling coaches and parents to stop pretending they're fine when they're not. I'm not about to be the exception to my own rule.
You're exhausted. I know. I'm the coach who tells you that. Consider this me practicing what I preach.
So for a bit: replies will be slower, the book and course timelines are shifting right. Not canceled. My body picked the schedule this time, not my calendar.
I'm not going to keep writing about avoiding burnout while ignoring a surgeon telling me to rest.
So I'm resting. Loudly, publicly, zero guilt.
Back soon. Until then I've got a couch to occupy and a husband to boss around from it.
