UW Tower Art

The Art Committee cordially invites you to the opening of the Hawaiian Art Show, which will be featured on the cafeteria wall next to UW Tower Café. Folks are invited to the reception, which will be Monday, January 13, from 1:15 to 2:00 pm. The art show is dedicated to the Hui Hoaloha Ulana University of Washington Hawaii Club, and their dancers have graciously agreed to come and perform some hula dances for this dedication. The hula performance will begin at 1:30 sharp.

This show features work by artist, Eugene Savage, who illustrated dinner menus for the S.S. Lurline (Matson Cruise Lines) during the 1950s. These pieces are actual menus from an ocean voyage cruise taken by one of Audrey Walker’s family members in 1955 (who had the foresight to keep the menus and take them to his berth on a daily basis). A second collection of art is by Guy Buffet (p**n. Gee Boofay), who lives part time on the Island of Maui. Last but not least, there is one large piece by famous Hawaiian artist, Pegge Hopper.

Please come to enjoy the art show, the hula dancers, and aloha spirit. The performance starts at 1:30 sharp!

The UW Tower features a wall dedicated to kids' artwork!

Fabulous recycled art pieces are on display in the UW Tower's mezzanine until May 28, 2013.

Rick Ells' lovely photos of local landscapes and birds are something to behold. Come see his show, "Natural Immersion," on the mezzanine of the UW Tower until March 2013.

The Fall 2012 "KIDZ Art Exhibit" will go up in the Tower Cafeteria on Thursday, October 11.

If you know a child that would like to participate, please email Carrel Sheldon ([email protected]) with the following information:

1) Art Sponsor's name (you) and email address.
2) Artist's name and age when art was produced.
3) Title or description of artwork.
4) Year artwork was produced.

The art needs to be framed, ready to hang, and delivered to the Cafeteria between 2:30 and 3:00 on Thursday, October 11. It will hang until January 9.

The artists' reception will be Thursday, Oct 25, 4-4:30 in the Tower Cafeteria.

Join us at the reception for the UW Photographers Group "Heads Up" exhibit on Thursday, 10/4, 3:30-5:00 on the UW Tower mezzanine! The exhibit will be up from 10/2-1/6.
