Emotions are like waves. When youre in the middle of an intense situation, emotions can be overpowering like theyre going to sweep you away and drown you. When you feel like this, its hard to remember that emotions are transient and do not last forever. Later, when things have calmed down a bit or from the outside looking in on someone elses life, its fairly easy to see that this too shall pass. But how do you find that kind of level-headed clarity in the middle of a challenging situation? It is possible. What Exactly Are Emotions? The classical view of emotions via: https://bit.ly/31jlbD5

I have been anxious all my life. While Ive learned many ways to calm my mind and ease the worry, this coronavirus, COVID-19, global pandemic is triggering my old anxiety-producing habits big time. Even though Im not in a high-risk group, I find myself checking my states case count multiple times a day. Is it in my city yet? I talk about it incessantly with others. They might know something I dont, right? I did go to the grocery yesterday and, while I didnt buy toilet paper, I did buy frozen food from the meager selection left. I could go on.Enough via: https://bit.ly/338YZxX

If youre in lockdown with family members, significant others, or roommates, you may be having more than enough interaction with them if youve been sharing the same space together for weeks. However, if, like me, you live by yourself and are not going anywhere except the grocery once a week you are probably starting to feel pretty isolated and alone. Now, I consider myself a homebody and do not need a lot of socializing, but this is a new extreme. I didnt realize how much my brief interactions at work and the yoga studio sustained me. I feel like via: https://bit.ly/314GQOX

Every minute of every day, your body is physically reacting, literally changing, in response to the thoughts that run through your mind. Its been proven without any doubt that just thinking about something causes your brain to release neurotransmitters, chemical messengers, that allow it to communicate with parts of itself and your nervous system. Neurotransmitters control virtually all of your bodys functions. Therefore, your mind and body are closely linked, and their relationship can exert a positive influence on your health. Attitudes, beliefs and emotional states ranging from love and compassion to fear and anger can trigger chain reactions that affect via: https://bit.ly/317IrU7

Worrying and anxiety have become the norm. According to The National Institute of Mental Health, anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States. And that was before anyone had ever heard of COVID-19 or was living in a global pandemic. Now its even worse. The same circuits in the frontal lobes of your brain that allow for superior human intelligence: decision-making, problem-solving, and planning, are also responsible for worry. In your brain, the only difference between worrying and planning is the amount and type of emotional involvement and self-oriented processing. When higher-functioning brain regions are preoccupied with worry, you via: https://bit.ly/30fvj07

Statistics show that more children than ever are experiencing symptoms of mental illness. Among adolescents and teens, the rates of depression and anxiety have been steadily increasing for decades and the most recent CDC data shows a similar trend in children starting as young as age four. While most of us may have a pretty good idea of some of the causes, we need to know what is affecting our children so negatively. So, we can change it.Several theories have been proposed. One potential cause thats gaining a lot of traction lately is the connection between diminished rates of free play via: https://bit.ly/2XuW4ft
