50 Quilts in 50 States for Inflammatory Breast Cancer The plan is to have 50 quilts done, to encourage conversation about inflammatory breast cancer and fund research. Inspired by my sweet friend Sheryl Mesloh.

I have a idea, no, a plan. A plan to have 50 quilts done, one from each state in the United States, to help encourage women do what women do best, to talk to each other and share information, support and education about inflammatory breast cancer. The idea is to have 50 quilts, to blanket the United States. We can receive quits from lap to bedspread size, as they are completed by the maker. We cou

ld even accept more that one per state! Quilting is an art form, so they rules are there are no rules! ( well, just one rule, only completed quilts please) :)

Let us know you are doing a quilt to be a part of our project. Post photos as you go, or surprise us! We will select quilts for display and we will find an appropriate places in each state to display and possibly raffle or auction them off. All funding collected will be applied to inflammatory breast cancer research via The IBC Network Foundation. This will be a combination of physical and online events, for our final goal of coverage of 50 states. We can't wait to hear the first quilt is completed! We wonder? What state will it be from? :)


Don't live in the US and want to be involved? Just follow us and we will expand as we see support! What is Inflammatory Breast Cancer, IBC? Don't know what IBC is? Don't feel bad, most people are very uneducated about IBC. Our goal is to bring this "orphaned disease" into the limelight and encourage education and funding of research for this highly fatal 200 year old form of breast cancer. Now that you are here, take a few minutes and learn! We need to be educated on this cancer if we are going to save life's. There is a quick check list of symptoms of IBC

Inflammatory breast cancer symptoms may include:

• Breast swelling, which one breast is suddenly larger than the other
• Breast that feels warm to touch and may look infected
• Itching or shooting pain
• A dimpling of the breast skin that looks like an orange peel (peau d’orange)
• Thickening of the skin
• Flattened or discolored ni**le
• Swelling in underarm or only on one side of neck
• Might feel lump, however lumps are not common in IBC.

Hurrah!!! Jennifer, owner of The Wooden Spool will once again host a quilt display for us this October!!! ❤️

If you have a quilt that you would have on display please contact us. There's a few things you need to know.

We would like this quilt, no matter what size, to be finished and sleeved for display hanging. If there is a write up that you would like to share of the story of the quilt, please include that in mailing or delivery.

Also know that all quilts will become the possession of the IBC Network Foundation and will not be viewed as on loan. ( Because if one went missing we would be devastated)

We know quilts are a precious storytelling pieces of art and we are looking forward to sharing!

It seems only fitting that the first quilt display post the COVID lockdown would be at the shop that completed the quilt...

I finally got to do something, that has been a very important assignment.
My wonderful friend Sheryl inspired a project called "50 Quilts in 50 States" She wanted quilts to tell women's stories of cancer and she had prepared one.
She succumb to the disease prior to being able to finish the quilt. She had completed the top but had not actually quilted it and we were not sure if all the pieces were found as there were no notes.

In time everything was discovered and I was able to drop it off at a wonderful quilt shop and Sealy, Texas that can do the type of long arm work required to finish this quilt.
This is a most happy day because Sheryl was a personal friend before either of us were diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer.
