Upper students, with the guidance of Ms. Ainey participated in Brighter Financial Future’s Investing and Budget Challenges over a period of 10 weeks. The Investing Challenge is an online simulation that operates using real-time stock market prices and provides students a chance to participate in an authentic experience with real-world learning opportunities. Students researched and traded stocks to increase the value of their portfolio. The Budget Challenge is a simulation of budgeting in a real world situation. Students pay bills, earn money, experience unexpected expenses, and make choices that affect their finances and credit score over an 18 month period. They need to balance work and finances with quality of life decisions. Both games really get the students involved and discussing the ideas that will affect their financial futures!
Wyatt M. placed 3rd in the whole state in the Investing Challenge-Elementary Division. He was 1st place in our school followed by Rhys W. in 2nd place and Carter W. in 3rd. Congratulations and great work!
Our school also did great in the Budgeting Challenge. Madison G. placed 1st in the Budgeting Challenge. Ariana A. placed 2nd, followed by Molly K.-F. in 3rd place. Wonderful job!
