AI expects clean data and predictable progress.
People don’t work that way.
There’s a relationship where Peter shows bold faith one moment…
and struggles the next.
He gets things right.
Then wrong.
Then right again.
And through it all, Jesus continues to teach, correct, and trust him.
Not because Peter was perfect— but because he was growing.
Leadership today requires patience.
Not everyone develops at the same pace.
Not every mistake is failure.
Because the leader AI can’t replace
is the one who stays committed to people through the process.

AI can optimize workflows.
But it doesn’t build trust.
There’s a moment where Jesus sends out seventy individuals to teach and serve—
not when they were perfectly ready, but when they were ready enough.
He gave them responsibility and authority. He trusted them to act.
And then He let them go.
In leadership, it’s easy to hold on—
to control outcomes, to double-check everything, to step back in.
But real leadership multiplies impact by trusting others to lead.
Because the leader AI can’t replace
is the one who develops and trusts people to rise.

AI is becoming more autonomous, making AI governance essential. Governance is not a sexy word. Often the mere mention of the word conjures up visions of complex processes and blocks to innovation. But we can’t afford to dismiss governance or delay AI.
Agentic AI systems can make decisions, trigger actions, and automate workflows independently. That power does introduce risk if organizations don’t implement proper oversight and well integrated supporting systems and processes.
According to research, more than half of CEOs are delaying major AI investments until governance standards are established. Delaying investment isn’t the answer, accelerating governance standards is!
For healthcare organizations, the stakes are high. AI systems must align with:
• HIPAA compliance
• clinical safety standards
• regulatory oversight
• responsible data usage
Governance is not just a compliance requirement.
It is the foundation that allows organizations to scale AI safely and responsibly.
The organizations that succeed with AI will be those that treat governance as a strategic capability—not an afterthought.

Everyone is talking about AI.
But the real question for healthcare organizations is not whether to adopt AI–It’s whether their data is ready for it.
Recent reports highlight one of the biggest barriers to AI ROI: unstructured and siloed data. This is an age-old problem for healthcare organizations. Without high-quality, well-organized data, AI systems simply lack the context needed to make reliable decisions.
Patient data often lives across:
EHR Systems
Revenue cycle platforms
Patient engagement tools
Analytic environments
If that data isn’t structured and interoperable, AI initiatives struggle to move beyond experimentation.
Before scaling AI, healthcare leaders should ask a simple question:
Is our data infrastructure ready to support AI-driven decision making?
In many cases the path to AI success actually begins with data strategy, interoperability, and data governance.

Our Physical Bodies
Part of my journey has been to really focus on embracing my body. My faith (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) is perhaps the only faith that believes God has a physical body. While I…

Another part of my journey over the last few months has been focused on letting go of pride. I have wanted to hide from the world so I don’t get hurt or betrayed again, so I won’t be judged poorly, so I won’t be laughed at, and so people won’t dislike me. I was hiding behind my weight and cowering in my safe little condo.
It takes tremendous courage to put our pride aside and look at things for what they are. Pride is often involved in many of our poorest decisions. We stay in relationships instead of admitting we were wrong. We leave relationships and blame the other person… and a long list of other bad decisions that are based on how we imagine people will view our lives and not on how it actually is.
To overcome pride we have to see ourselves more wholly and honestly. Instead of thinking we need to prove something or convince people of how perfect or flawless we are, we need to own who we really are. We need to acknowledge we are doing our best and that we have weaknesses. This opens us to learning, to allowing us to become more humble, to submitting our will to God, and allowing Him to fill in the gaps. President Benson reminds us what pride is and the dangers of pride in his foundational talk “Beware of Pride”. I read it often and still, I struggle. I continue to work on overcoming my attachment to pride and would love to hear your thoughts and if you struggle too.

One of my passion projects in 2023 was to start a podcast sharing the stories and advice of 40+ LDS singles who are thriving. We (Kay and I) wanted to find ways to provide hope, inspiration, and connection for a population that has been through some really hard stuff and are in a place where they may have never dreamed. But, they are thriving in spite of their circumstance. We have met some amazing people on this journey. Some people who truly inspire us. Eileen is one of those people and we are so excited to share her story.
