Congratulations to Mrs. Kristy Satterfield, the 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year at Scottsburg Elementary. Mrs. Satterfield has taught at Scottsburg Elementary for 21 years in various grade levels. She is currently teaching fifth grade. Mrs. Satterfield makes learning exciting by changing up the class's routine. She makes sure her students are okay emotionally and physically. She does everything in her power to get her students to master skills on grade level. Mrs. Satterfield tries to find the latest books and interests to inspire learning in her fifth graders. Mrs. Cowan, the principal, stated that she is so proud to have Mrs. Satterfield represent Scottsburg Elementary as the Teacher of the Year.

Students at Scottsburg Elementary celebrated reading by participating in the RIF distribution for the 2022-2023 school year. Students from Ms. Epperson's Pre-K class were so excited to receive the books during their library time from Mrs. Brenda Conner, the school librarian. A special thank you to Dollar General for funding the Reading Is Fundamental program for our students.

A reminder that CherryDale Fundraiser items will be delivered today. Items must be picked up by a parent or guardian between 2PM-4PM. Thank you for all of your support!

CherryDale Fundraiser items will arrive on Thursday, April 20th! Items can be picked up from the school from 2PM-4PM. Items cannot be sent home with students and must be picked up by a parent or guardian. Thank you to everyone that made this fundraiser such a success!

As a reminder, students have early dismissal today, Thursday, March 30, 2023. South Boston Elementary School and South Boston Early Learning Center will dismiss at 12:30 PM. All other schools will dismiss at 1:00 PM.

Due to the potential for black ice in some areas of the county, Halifax County Public Schools will operate on a two hour delay tomorrow, Monday, March 13, 2023. Twelve month employees follow Code 2, report two hours late.

Kindergarten registration is being conducted at all elementary schools on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. If you have a child who will be five years old by September 30, 2023, please register the child at the elementary school in your school zone on Thursday, March 23, 2023. You will need to bring your child's birth certificate for registration.

The student demographic information form may be downloaded from the following address and completed prior to attending kindergarten registration.
