Alliance for College & Career Student Success - ACCSS is hosting our first Career Quest event of 2024 on January 26 here Blinn College - Schulenburg Campus. We will have 200 8th grade students in attendance from Weimar Independent School District, Fayetteville ISD, Round Top - Carmine High School, St. Anthony Catholic School, Flatonia ISD, and St. Rose of Lima Catholic School for a full day or college & career fun and exploration.

ACCSS Director, Susie Shank, is looking for a few volunteers to assist with "behind-the-scenes" support on 1/26 and also 2/9. If you might be interested in supporting this effort please contact her by DM or call (979)743-5239.

Seniors - keep your eye out for scholarship opportunities. Most will be applicable whether you attend a 4-year, 2-year or trade school.

🎓Are you a senior in high school and reside in or attend school in Fayette, Colorado or Lavaca counties? If yes, check out our scholarships:
🐢Jack Hooper Memorial Scholarship – this will be awarded to a student who has exhibited the qualities of Acceptance, Kindness, Inclusion, and Service. This might be through volunteerism, work or life experiences.
🐢Grow Wings Scholarship – this applicant must be actively participating in Special Education or following a 504 Plan.
🐢Give Wings Scholarship – this applicant must be pursuing an education that will lead them to working with children with learning challenges in some way.

Megan Zapalac is using her grant money to buy keyboard covers and Flocabulary Lite for her computer students.
Becky Kubala is purchasing a LED 3 setting light panel and manipulative kit for her Life skills students.
Jamie Lusk is purchasing canvas boards, poetry practice and STAAR stems for her HS English students.
Peggy Frye is purchasing a class set of novels and project boards for her HS English students.

At the Texas Statewide Capacity Building Conference (A&M and TWC). Supporting the student run businesses that are displayed!

Our Fayette County SSA Community Resource Fair was a success tonight. We would like to thank everyone for coming out tonight.

Schulenburg ISD secondary students toured the post office on Thursday. They learned about the things a postal worker does, got to see where mail going to their own house is sorted before delivery, and they each got to purchase a stamp and mail a letter that they wrote. It was a great tour and we loved all that Ms. Lacey (the post master) showed us!😄- Becky Kubala
