It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you of the passing of a member.
Al Pappas passed away at the beginning of the month. As you know, Al was up in years and was driven to the in-person meetings before COVID-19 by fellow members including Earl & Jackie Gillespie and Ernst Hofmann.
Al was a great guy with extensive boating knowledge. He was always willing to tell a story and share a joke. I always enjoyed chatting with him and he will be sorely missed by all of us.

Please pray for his family during this hard time and send along any stories that his kids would like to know. Both the Commander and I will attend the funeral.

The graveside service will be at the Life Event Center at 5950 S. US 1 in Rockledge. 11:30 a.m. Saturday September 26th. The eldest child is John Pappas who is the eldest child. Al’s a long time member and helped arrange the 50th anniversary at the Yacht Club.
Albert J. Pappas, age 92 of Satellite Beach, Florida entered into rest on September 3, 2020. Born in Brooklyn, New York he came to Brevard County in 1968 from Long Beach, California. Albert was a Ret. Commander in the United States Navy. He was a veteran of WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War.
Albert was a member of the United States Submarine Veterans, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, NRA Life Member, Veterans of Foreign Wars, U.S. Power Squadron.
He is survived by his children; John Pappas of Cocoa, FL, Carolyn Pappas of W. Hollywood, CA, and Karl Pappas of Cocoa, FL; grandchildren, Jesse and Justin Hunt. Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Pappas.
The Very Best Pure Sailor Al enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 during WWII. He served our great country for 31 years and retired at the rank of Commander. In his spare time he enjoyed sailing, traveling, volunteering, and promoting boating safety. There will be a graveside service with military honors on Saturday September 26, 2020 at 11:30am. Please limit services to family and close friends due to current regulations.
