Freeport Area Music Boosters Association is proud to announce the winner of the 2026 FAMBA scholarship, presented at the Senior Awards Ceremony. 📜

This scholarship recognizes a graduating senior who has demonstrated dedication, leadership, and commitment to the music program throughout all four years of high school. To be considered, applicants were required to maintain at least a 3.25 GPA, participate in concert band, marching band/auxiliary, or choir for four years, remain in good standing with school staff, and submit an original essay reviewed anonymously by an outside judge.

Cecilia’s essay, “A Reflection on Band,” stood out for its honesty, maturity, and heartfelt perspective on the impact of music education and belonging. Through her writing, she shared how band became more than just an activity — it became a place of friendship, confidence, discipline, and acceptance. Her reflections beautifully captured the spirit of what music programs mean to students and why they matter so deeply.

In recognition of her exceptional essay and commitment to music, Cecilia Harshman was awarded a $500 scholarship.

🎓 Congratulations, Cecilia, and best wishes in all your future endeavors! 🎶
