Today was the kick-off meeting for the Student Community Innovation Program (SCIP)! This summer, more than 20 local high school students will spend 100 hours collaborating with educators to refresh our Science Lending Library. As students themselves, they know what kinds of hands-on STEM kits will excite and engage learners. Lots of innovation, creativity, and fun ahead this summer, stay tuned!

A little lab-made table glow up just in time for summer programs✨We transformed ordinary sheets of plywood into hexagonal tables using the CNC router, contact cement, and laminate sheets (in green, black, and safety yellow of course!) A touch of walnut edge banding and some hand-routing brought everything together.

Special thanks to our old tables for their final contribution: donating the mounting hardware for the upgrade. 🪦

SPEC senior student instructor Prabhav has committed to Georgia Tech to study MechE. Hip hip hooray! Over the past four years, Prabhav has been an incredible student leader, leading countless camps and classes, supporting fundraising and donor engagement, and jumping into outreach efforts, RND Automation projects, and presentations at local retirement homes. We can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next as he begins this exciting new chapter. Best of luck, Prabhav. You’ll be missed!

Aerospace Club member Logan is headed to Bryn Mawr College this fall! Over the past two years, Logan has been a dedicated volunteer, supporting Rocketry Club before its transition to Aerospace and jumping into our Summer BUILD program. While she’s still exploring what she wants to study, we know she’s going to do amazing things in this next chapter. Congrats, Logan!

Some Aerospace Club shenanigans from the last couple of meetings. 🚀 The team has been busy prototyping, testing, and dialing in their designs on a smaller scale, building key components, and refining their approach before launching their full-scale solar-powered aircraft. Stay tuned, we're getting close!

Robotics extraordinaire Michael is headed to Northeastern University to study MechE this Fall! When not serving on the LEGO RoboRumble committee, Michael can be found leading the charge for the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team, Ultronic. Have we mentioned he was a 2024-2025 FTC Dean's List award winner, one of ten in the WORLD? We are so pumped to see what he achieves next. Congrats, Michael. The future is bright, grab your shades. 😎

Next up in our is Presley! Presley has been hard at work at the this year, heading up Aerospace Club and directing the build of a solar-powered plane. Before Aero, Presley was a longtime RC Car Committee member and former racer! We're so proud of just how much he has blossomed as a leader this year and look forward to seeing him crush it as he studies MechE at Purdue University John Martinson Honors College this Fall. But wait! Before he leaves, be sure to catch him and other Aero Club members as they lead Aerospace Engineering camp this summer.
