We are so excited to finally share the Future Proof 2026 opener!
“In the Fold” is about the motion design community, where every crease represents an individual within it, bringing everyone together! FutureProof ‘26 is all about legacy and connection. The moment you begin animating, no matter how much skill or experience you have, you are inevitably brought into the fold of all animators before and after you. Through dynamic animation, explosive type, and the novelty of paper, this conference opener visualizes how it feels to be a part of something bigger than yourself.

Today was a big day for the Department of Motion Design at Ringling College of Art and Design! 🎉 The City of Sarasota has officially designated December 1st as Public Art in Motion Day, celebrating the exceptional work of our Motion Design students. Ringling students and faculty were presented with the proclamation by Mayor Debbie Trice.
Twelve students high level 2D and 3D animations, projected onto the Palm Avenue Parking Garage during the Fresh Fridays event on November 7th. The “sails” of the parking garage lit up with animations of circus life, manatees, lemurs, rubber duckies, and more. 🐬🎪🦆
A powerful 4K laser projector was provided by Barco Technologies with the support of Regional Manager Brian Emerson.
This project was led by Ciara Coleman, City of Sarasota Public Arts Administrator; Steven Cover, Director of Planning; and Nexmark Media. Special thanks to Dante Rinaldi, the Projection Mapping faculty, and Kelly Warner from LightMural for their technical expertise, as well as architect Jonathan Parks for his inspiring design!
«Not only was this a spectacular event, it was also an excellent educational experience for these Motion Design students. Designing animated content for such a large scale requires them to think differently about how to present their work to an audience that is looking up at a five-story screen. Students had to previsualize their work using a 3D model of the architecture, integrate ‘trompe-l’oeil’ visual illusion techniques, work on the logistics of establishing the precise projector location, the choice of projector lens, and the type/location of the power supply. Projection mapping is such a complex and collaborative art form, and the City of Sarasota was the perfect partner, and the Palm Ave. Parking Garage provided a perfect canvas,» said Ed Cheetham, Chair, The Department of Motion Design.
Ringling College and the Department of Motion Design look forward to continuing our partnership with the City of Sarasota and Barco to create more magical projection mapping experiences in the future.💛
