Florida lawmakers have approved a proposed constitutional amendment that would significantly increase the state's Homestead Exemption:
✅ Up to $150,000 in 2027
✅ Up to $250,000 in 2028
✅ Potentially lowering property taxes for many primary homeowners
Important: This is still a proposal and must be approved by Florida voters in November 2026 before becoming law.
What caught my attention is the discussion around residency timing and how future homeowners may benefit if they establish Florida residency before the new rules take effect.
