Found this note from a parent to a principal in a FB group I belong to and enjoy. Thought you’d appreciate reading it too.
Just received this email from a parent this morning. Have to say...it’s this kind of support that will get us through ..💜
So I've been thinking a lot about the new school year- I'm sure everyone has- and I've made a decision. It's been decades since we, as a nation, were asked to sacrifice our traditional way of life. The kids who lived through the Great Depression and WWII came to be called our Greatest Generation. I choose to believe that at this moment we are once again leading our young people to become a great generation. They are learning resilience and flexibility that the future requires.
I know that no one is pleased with much of anything for school right now- how can we be, everything is up in the air and is changing all of the time. But I also know, that the administrators have worked tirelessly all summer to plan, that teachers have likely spent time learning new technology and planning for a new way of teaching, and parents (at least these parents) have been preparing our kiddos for what to expect this year. Adults have chosen to put our kids first and I'm thankful for that. The next Greatest Generation needs us to do this!
I know this year will be hard in a lot of ways. I can't promise anyone I won't claim to be teaching my kids at home- it does feel like that some days (also I don't know how you do what you do all day!). That being said, please know that our family appreciates and values your knowledge, your experience, and your education. We know you are the real teacher and we are just facilitating the work. We look forward to working with you all year to help our kids succeed.
Here's to the 2020-2021 school year and helping the kids across our community to develop the skills and education they will need to succeed. Our family looks forward to working together this year!
