Realizing it’s almost the start of the new school year and we haven’t posted the end of last year’s Strawberry student projects! Below are some of my favorites.
Remember to make your BVEF donation for the 2026-27 school year, if the the asking amount per student does not fit in your family’s budget please click “give other amount” and give what you feel comfortable doing so. Every dollar helps keep art, music, dance, and theatre in our student’s lives.

This year, families bid in the VOTA Online Auction for an opportunity to have their kiddo receive the honor of "pie-ing" Principal Hankerson or Vice Principal Thornhill at year's end. Well, year end is upon us, and the principals got pie'ed! 🥧🍦😀

Thanks again to all of the wonderful support you provided by participating in the VOTA Speakeasy event and/or by bidding in the VOTA Online Auction. Those pies in the face pay for our arts education program! 😋

Yesterday, at the 3rd Grade Moving Up Ceremony in Yulupa's MPR, our amazing music teacher, Mr. Steinberg, directed the kids in an original song about their upcoming move to Strawberry Elementary. It was a really lovely and special way to mark the "big kid" transition.

Mr, Steinberg is moving on, too – into retirement! We're sad to see him hang up his baton, but we're incredibly grateful for the wonderful work he has done for BVUSD these last couple of years. As the song puts it, we hope "in this community, [he] will stay."

This year, BVEF raised $113,000 because of *your* generosity and community spirit. That money directly funds a range of educational and enrichment opportunities for our BVUSD students. 🙏

Lucky for you we have three ways for you to engage with art this month! No need for Botox or suduko, just show up for movie night tonight at strawberry elementary, or come to the 4th-6th grade art show during open house next Thursday, or stop by Cooperage Brewing Company on airport court anytime this month to see top TK-6th grade art. BVEF, we’re here to keep you young.

♟️☕️ Here's a great opening gambit! Hit up Flutter Coffee Co first thing this coming Saturday, May 16, at Strawberry Elementary. You'll be there for the Chess Club for Kids tournament...and you'll be thirsty and tired from all cheering on your little grandmasters.

The wonderful Flutter Coffee is setting up shop on campus all day, serving coffee, hot chocolate, and fresh baked goods to fuel you through every move, countermove, and nail-biting endgame.

A percentage of Flutter's sales will support BVEF's arts education programs at our BVUSD schools.

Coffee. Chess. Good cause. Checkmate. Now *that's* a brilliant move!♟️☕️🎨

Art heroes wanted! 🎨

Mrs. Rasp is looking for a few good volunteers to help take down artwork after the Strawberry Open House on Thursday, May 21.

Here's the scoop: over 350 pieces of student artwork will go up AND come down in a single evening — which is both impressive and a logistical feat worthy of its own art installation. The more hands on deck, the faster it goes!

🕢 6:45–7:30pm (probably less with a great crew!)

Judy Hopps told us anyone can be anything. We're choosing to be people sitting on a blanket watching "Zootopia 2" for free. April 15, Strawberry Field. You in? 🎥🍿

On Friday, April 15, bring the whole family to Strawberry Field (just behind Strawberry Elementary) for a FREE outdoor screening of the fantastic "Zootopia 2." 🐰🦊 Detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are back on the case — and this time, the animal metropolis has a brand new mystery that'll keep everyone on the edge of their blankets!

Here's what to bring:
🛋️ A blanket or low chairs
👛 A few dollars for popcorn, candy, and other concessions available

It's completely free, it's outdoors, and it's a great night out for the whole family. Hope to see you there!
