Yesterday, Stefan had an awesome interview for his book, The Power of Risk with ski mountaineering athlete for The North Face Hilaree Nelson! Hilaree was National Geographic Adventurer of the Year in 2018 and is on the NatGeo Live Speaker series through which she shares her stories to audiences across the country. She is the most prolific ski mountaineer of her generation and was the first woman ever to climb two 8,000m peaks in 24 hours (Everest and Lhotse). Listen to Hilaree talk about the profound rewards of risk-taking, not just on the mountain, but in her life as a mom of 2 boys and public speaker.

REQUEST FOR SUGGESTIONS OF STORIES TO SHARE IN MY BOOK!

I am looking for a few more great stories to include. I am foremost interested in telling wildly compelling stories that will inspire the reader to do more good in their own life. I also want to share stories of both well respected people in the world as well as the unknown person and underrepresented groups. The ideal stories may be less about the risk of climbing Everest or starting a $100m company, although please do suggest these amazing stories. I also want to share powerful stories about reconciliation with estranged family, or admitting to have made a massive mistake, asking for forgiveness, vulnerably sharing feelings when the stakes are really high, standing up against a bully, or calling out an abuser, etc. These types of risks may seem less impressive, but actually hold the potential for an even more powerful impact.

The Power of Risk guides the reader on the path of personal transformation through taking risks in life. The book shows how your own inner compass can guide you to take the right risks and in the process, transform your inner limitations. In this book, risk is defined as choosing to do something you are inspired to, even though it is scary or even uncomfortable.

I am a big wave surfer, a backcountry snowboarder, a class-5 river guide, kite surfer, and backcountry snow-kiter. I've long had a very close relationship with risk. The book shares the exciting details of amazing stories of taking risks in adventure and in life, gathered from interesting people I’ve met along my path. There is also a deep dive into the insights of the profound inner changes in the storyteller. The teachings here are less about becoming more confident and successful than they are about deep inner change. When we choose to take a leap, we find freedom from the mental and emotional patterns that limit our full potential. This is a powerful and unique access point to becoming a fully actualized human.

As an executive coach for business leaders, I help clients transform deeply ingrained patterning within subconscious thinking and emotional responses. This book combines my insights on risk as an adventure guide and athlete with my knowledge of personal transformation gained over a decade of experience as a facilitator. It explores the nature of thoughts and emotions via a unique lens on taking risks in life. We can now better understand the anatomy of risk by breaking it down into stages: from the first moment of being inspired to leap through actualizing the benefits of the experience.

What inspiring and noteworthy stories you can suggest to include in the book? Please tag someone you know of with a great story here, send me a message, or make an introduction if you are so inspired. Thank you so much for your support and interest in my book!
