🎷🎶 SPECIAL GUEST ANNOUNCEMENT 🎶🎷

We're beyond delighted to share that the legendary Michael Peloquin is flying in all the way from Chicago to join The Edge on stage for Jimmy Dillon's 75th birthday celebration!

Michael is one of the most respected names in the harmonica world ranked among the top players alive today and a killer saxophonist to boot. Over the years he's toured and recorded with some of music's biggest legends, bringing a melodic, horn-inspired style to everything from blues and soul to funk, country, rock, and jazz. He's even helped develop harmonicas for Harrison Harmonicas, the only ones made right here in the USA.

Now he's crossing the country to help us celebrate 40 years of The Edge and Jimmy's big 7-5 and honestly, we can't think of a better way to do it. Michael on sax and harmonica is going to add a whole new layer of soul to a night that's already shaping up to be unforgettable.

The Easiest Way To Make Your D Chord Sound Better

Want to make a basic D chord sound instantly more interesting?

Just add your pinky to the 3rd fret of the high E string and you’ve got a Dsus. Lift it on and off while you strum and suddenly that ordinary D chord has movement, tension and a beautiful ringing quality.

It’s one tiny guitar move you can use in countless songs, especially acoustic, country and blues.

How To Play Shallow by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper - Easy Guitar Lesson

In this video, I break down how to play "Shallow" from A Star Is Born on acoustic guitar. I cover the chord progressions for all three sections - the verse (Em, D/F #, G, C), the chorus (Am, D, G walkdown, Em), and that unique bridge section where Lady Gaga gets operatic.

I show you both the simple way to play it and the more detailed fingerpicking techniques used in the actual recording, including those Em7 voicings and the little embellishments that make it sound authentic. Plus, I share a bonus lick I created to add some personal flair to the song.

Over the years, I've gotten a lot better at teaching beginners.

And one thing I've realized is that most experienced guitar players, including teachers, have completely forgotten what it's like to pick up a guitar and have absolutely no idea what you're doing.

Things that seem ridiculously simple after you've played for 20 or 30 years aren't simple at all when you're starting out.

That's one of the reasons I've enjoyed working with my friend Jason on something he's been quietly putting together for the last few years.

Jason struggled with guitar for YEARS before we met. And strangely enough, that turned out to be a pretty big advantage.

Because he remembers exactly what it's like to struggle with chord shapes, rhythm, changing chords, understanding what the heck people are talking about, and wondering why everyone else seems to "get it" when you don't.

He's taken those struggles, combined them with a lot of what he's learned from me over the years, and created something called **Picture Perfect Guitar**.

His goal was pretty ambitious... Create the simplest guitar learning program ever made.

Not just for someone who's never played before, either.

If you've been playing for a while but still feel like there are holes in your foundation, or you've never quite made that jump from "I know some chords" to actually feeling like a guitar player, I think you're going to find this pretty interesting too.

And ultimately, it'll prepare you for a lot of the more advanced things I teach. We're going to tell you more about Picture Perfect Guitar over the next few days.

And don't worry, if you're already ripping up and down the fretboard and have absolutely ZERO interest in beginner-friendly guitar stuff, you can just ignore the upcoming posts about it.

But if you've ever felt like guitar was harder than it needed to be...

Keep an eye out because I think Jason may be onto something here.

Can you name this famous 3 chord wonder song? It’s just a G, C, and D chord. As simple as it gets.

One Finger Changes Your G Chord

Here’s a really simple way to add some movement and color to a regular G chord. By keeping the G in place and moving just one finger on the B string, you get that suspended sound you’ve heard in countless songs over the years, including plenty of old Bob Dylan tunes. Strum it, fingerpick it, play it softly or work it into a progression. It’s one tiny move that can make a basic G chord sound a whole lot more musical.
