Today marked our 5th annual Summer Meal Concert Series event with our third free music event for this season, sponsored by No Kid Hungry and held at Westside Boys and Girls Club at Bohnett Park. The Same Difference played a collection of folksy rock tunes while a group of about 60 kids listened, played with hula hoops and danced to the music. As well, delicious and healthy meals were prepared by Santa Barbara Unified Food Services. Many thanks to Laura Capps for School Board and SBU Food Services Director Nancy Weiss and staff for their unwavering support of community and youth.

Today, in Santa Maria, California, marked our 5th annual Summer Meal Concert Series event with our second free music event for this season, sponsored by No Kid Hungry and coordinated by Jason Davie at City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks. At Oakley Park DJ Pete Ruiz performed while the kids rang in Summer Sostice with delicious and healthy meals prepared by Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County, clown games, and a surprise flash mob performance while La Ley Radio broadcasted live. Many thanks to Laura Capps for School Board for her unwavering support of community and youth.

Healthy summertime free meal program begins in Santa Barbara County A free summer meal program has begun for any child 18 or younger. The goal is to make sure they have nutritional food even when school is not in session.

Today, along with the support of No Kid Hungry, we kicked off our 5th Annual Free Summer Meals and Concert Series Program at Franklin Elementary with more than 200 kids in attendance.
Jade Hendrix performed some beautifully soulful tunes while kids enjoyed a wholesome and delicious meal prepared by Nancy Weiss and her staff at Santa Barbara Unified Food Services. Laura Capps for School Board and City Councilman Jason Dominguez were both on hand giving their support.
This summer, across Santa Barbara County, there are 40 meal sites serving a variety of meal options - breakfasts, lunches, snacks and even some dinners - made possible through a county-wide coalition of partners, including the SB Unified School District, The City of Santa Barbara, SB Food Bank, Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County, No Kid Hungry and Jeff Bridges.
To find which meal site is nearest you, simply text SUMMERFOOD to 877-877 and a list of sites will be texted back to you! No registration or paperwork is required. Meals are fresh, locally made, delicious and free for youth under 18, or available to adults for only a few dollars.

We're gearing up for another fun and nutritious summer!
We want to invite you to a fun little kick-off event this Thursday, May 15th from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. There'll be some great entertainment - Stolen Thunder, Camille Umoff, and Let Flo Go will all be performing as well as the Anacapa String Orchestra. Come sample some free tasty treats from the food truck and hear Jeff Bridges speak about a cause near and dear to his heart, along with Congresswoman Lois Capps and Mayor Helene Schneider!
