Sweet Betty 💔
It’s a solemn day at the barn.
As many know, Betty lived with PPID (cushings disease) for many years. While it had been easily managed, she began exhibiting later stage symptoms over summer - hence her lesson absence the last few months. While these symptoms affected her work, she was still happy as could be retired in the pony pasture with her friends.
Yesterday things took a rapid turn - and Betty was in immense pain from the PPID progression last night. We made the heartbreaking but incredibly necessary call to end her suffering, surrounded by her people and herd.
Betty touched so many lives. She taught countless children, in and out of the saddle, and was always the kindest soul. She was the first horse our tiniest students fell in love with, and old reliable for ANY activity at the barn. While her story before joining our herd is unknown, her legacy here will live on forever ❤️
