Sanford ACE Team The Sanford Active Community Environment (ACE) team envisions a community where residents and visitors can walk or bike across town safely and comfortably.

Formed in 2013, the Sanford Active Community Environment (ACE) Team serves the City of Sanford Maine by advocating for:
• The expansion and improvement of policies, programs, and infrastructure that encourage biking, walking, and other physical activity among people of all ages and abilities.
• Neighborhoods, natural areas, and commercial areas that are integrated with trails, sidewalks, paved sho

ulders, bike lanes, playgrounds, and other facilities that invite physical activity.
• Educational programs that encourage safe biking and walking such as after-school clubs, Bike and Walk-to School Day, and other Safe Routes to School programs.
• Events and ongoing activities that promote biking, walking, and physical activity.

Please take Action to help keep biking safe and accessible for young people in Sanford. The Nasson Community Center has announced plans to suspend the bike center program in just 10 days due to lack of funds. The board is hopeful they can find the means to keep the program alive but they need to hear support from the community. We held our first public forum on biking, walking, trails, wheelchair use, active living, and mobility in June 2014. Over 30 concerned residents came to share ideas for making Sanford safer for active living and active transportation.
