It’s been a little while since I’ve posted, and I believe it’s only fair to provide an update.

In full transparency, we will not meet the signature goal before next week’s deadline. But if you know me, you know I don’t walk away from something I strongly believe in.

Over the last 2½ months, we have sparked meaningful conversations about civic engagement and what it truly means to participate in our local democracy. I’ve had powerful discussions with young people and others in our community who are asking thoughtful, informed questions. Many have stepped forward wanting to better understand voting, civic responsibility, and how to make their voices heard.

So here’s where we go from here.

First: If you still have petition sheets, please let me know so we can turn them in to the Board of Elections by Monday.

Second: After consulting with the Board of Elections, we will begin again next election cycle. Yes, that means starting fresh with signatures — but now we understand the process more clearly and strategically than ever before.

Third: We are working to determine the earliest possible submission date for the next cycle so we have ample time to gather the required signatures.

And most importantly — I am moving forward. I will continue this journey as an unaffiliated candidate for our local Board of Education.

These past months have revealed a lot. We’ve seen support. We’ve seen criticism. We’ve seen opinions on how things “should” have been done. That’s part of stepping into public service. I welcome it.

If you believe in my stance on education, in independent leadership, and in keeping the focus on students, teachers, and families — I ask you to stay with me.

This is not the end. It’s the beginning of doing it even better.

Lee County Schools will be fully CLOSED tomorrow, February 2, 2026 for a good old-fashioned snow day.

Please see the note from Dr. Chris Dossenbach.

"Dear families,
Days like today don't come often for us. It is a reminder that learning also happens in moments of joy, wonder and play. So stay warm, be safe and let kids be kids - sled, laugh and soak it all in. School will be back soon enough so go enjoy a good old-fashioned snow day!

Lee County Schools will be closed tomorrow (2/2/2026) for students and staff.

With gratitude,
Chris Dossenbach"

You heard it from Dr. Dossenbach! No school tomorrow! Go have a blast!

Students should hold onto the remote work packets that were sent home on Friday in case they are needed later in the week, but they do not need to complete them for tomorrow! Stay safe & make some great memories!

💬 Let’s Talk: What Does It Mean To You To Be Unaffiliated?

I recently received the message below👇🏼😊

I’d like to open this up for respectful community discussion — because this is exactly why I chose to run unaffiliated.

Being unaffiliated to me does not mean having no opinions.
It means I am not owned by a political party.
It means I listen to our community first — parents, teachers, students, and taxpayers.

I believe there are good ideas on both sides — and I also believe both parties have gone too far at times, especially when politics interferes with education. Our teachers want to teach. Our students deserve to come first. Our schools should not be battlegrounds for political agendas.

My focus is:
✅ Putting students first
✅ Supporting teachers
✅ Using community resources to strengthen education
✅ Keeping our rural schools strong for future generations

Respectful differences are part of a healthy democracy.

So I’d love to hear from you:

👉 What do YOU think an unaffiliated candidate should look like?
👉 What matters most to you in our schools?

Let’s keep this respectful and focused on our kids and our community. 💙📚
