August is Back to School Month for the state of Georgia! While Chamberlain maybe in the middle of their session, SGA is holding a clothing drive where all donations will be sent to the Salvation Army at the end of the month. SGA will also be holding a Scrub drive where you can drop of gently used scrubs that you may no longer need. This will help us start a Scrub Closet that will allow students to donate and get scrubs as needed!
As Gandhi once said, “be the change you wish to see in the world”.

Why nursing?
“I chose nursing b/c shortly after we moved to Florida my grandmother was diagnosed w/a malignant brain tumor. She had hospice there and she knew I had always wanted to be a nurse! She told me I should be there taking care of her not these people she didn’t know & I felt helpless.
I had to say goodbye to her over the phone & I promised her I would become a nurse one day & make her proud! I have a pic of her in my office to remind me to keep pushing for my goal/dream/promise!
That no matter how hard things are thrown at you in life, someone else is going through something worse than you. Being a nurse and giving comfort and making a difference in someone’s life is what I want to do!”

Advice for other nursing students:
“If Nursing School was easy everyone would be a nurse! Don’t ever lose your drive & passion on your goal & dream of becoming a nurse! You are the only one in the way of achieving that goal! “Be the change you wish to see.” Hangs above my door in my bedroom and being the change I wish to see is something you have to work hard for! Ask yourself how bad do you want to be a nurse? If you want it bad enough nothing will get in your way, not even yourself! So what are you waiting for?

Why nursing?:
“I decided to go because of the nursing care model. In the healthcare setting, nurses interact with patients the most. It allows them to build relationships and get to actually know the patient. I love when I am able to help someone and make a difference in their life, even if all I do is make them smile.”

Advice for other nursing students:
“The best advice I can give students is to get involved in the school, wether it is student organizations or volunteer work. It is also very important to learn how to manage your time! Be proactive with your education.”
